The first ship in a series of LNG ice-going carriers, set to transport cargo from Siberia to Europe and Asia, has been launched.
Constructed by Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) in South Korea, the ship is the most powerful LNG carrier in the world.
ABB has delivered a wide range of equipment to the ship. The scope of supply includes turbochargers, generators, switchboards, transformers, electric drives, propulsion control, and the Azipod propulsion units that will power the vessel through arctic conditions.
The vessel will be prepared for the commissioning and start-up of the ABB equipment, scheduled for the beginning of March.
